If you read this post, you know that my family and I moved out of our home and in with my in-laws for the summer to allow for renovations in our home. Our goal was to sell this house and be moved into a new home before school began this Fall, but God has a way of reminding us that everything is in His timing. Our family returned to this home a week after school began and we had decided that we were going to take the house off the market, stay put, and try again in Spring 2019.
God also has a sense of humor and a week after we moved back into the house, we received an offer that we accepted. The closing date had been scheduled for the end of October, so we decided to hang out and enjoy the newly renovated home a little longer - 6 weeks longer.
Here's a little back story on our Pottsboro Home.
The house was built around 1997 and my husband and I purchased the home in January 2014. The first thing we changed was some paint color. We wanted to tackle the hideous wallpaper in the half-bath and the kitchen, but after Jason spent many evenings scraping wallpaper, we quickly put that on the back burner and just made a "to do" list on everything we wanted to eventually accomplish in the house. It was all little things, that collectively added up to a whole lot of money. New baseboards, new trim, new flooring, updated bathrooms - the entire house.
But, life happens, and you have to pivot.
I found out I was pregnant with Justin in September 2015, and had a somewhat difficult pregnancy - so, NOTHING happened with the house for awhile. Our main focus was our infant, our son who was entering his senior year of high school, and our daughter entering preschool. Then, before we knew it, our son was moving to college in Aurora, IL., and our daughter was beginning kindergarten.
LIFE.
Finally, we were able to get to that "to do" list this summer, and the house looks absolutely perfect. Which made it very difficult for us to sell it since it is finally everything we wanted it to be. But, we know that a new family is going to make some new memories in their new home.
Now, without further ado, here are some before and after photos of the house! All pics have the "before" photo on top, and the "after" photo on bottom (with the exception of the kids' bathroom - those are side by side).

We decided to freshen up the paint outside to really give it a new, clean look. It really made a huge difference!
As you walk into the front door, you see the living and dining room. All the SUNLIGHT! We updated all the floors to hand-scraped, hardwood floors throughout most of the house, new paint, new baseboards, and all new light fixtures.
We kept all of the walls the same color throughout the house since we were going to sell it. We kept the counter tops the same and WOW they look amazing with the Sherwin-Williams Dorian Grey paint color.

I didn't get a good picture of the laundry room before. The laundry room had the same ugly tile as the kitchen did. I absolutely love how bright everything looks with the updates.
Again, I didn't get a picture of the office before renovations. The office is right off of the kitchen and beside the laundry, so the floors were all the same tile.

Out of the entire house, I think this is my favorite! This is the half bath off of the kitchen and had the most hideous wallpaper that has ever been made. The new light fixture really made this room complete! It really looks great turned on. ;) It's amazing what some paint and new tile will do for a space!

We didn't do anything crazy to the bedrooms. We really tried to stick to neutral paint, baseboards, and carpet. We added carpet in room 1 and 2 and new carpet in the master bedroom. I am obsessed with these new baseboards and can't wait to do the same in our new house!

We would have loved to gut both bathrooms and start from the studs, but the budget just didn't allow for it. Even though we left all of the counter tops and the shower and tub in the master bath, I think the overall completed look is amazing!

As of this week, we have officially sold the house! I was very sad to sell the house but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited for our new adventure! Stay tuned for more to come on our new house. I can't wait to share about it once we get moved in and unpacked. I've wasted an embarrassing amount of time on Pinterest.

Thanks so much for your support!
